Description du livre
Invasions of introduced species cause varying degrees of damage to the ecosystems concerned and it is up to society to manage the consequences. How to prevent biological invasions? How to assess the risk they represent? What can be done to combat the ongoing invasions? Sensitized to this problem, the Ministry in charge of ecology has asked a community of researchers, from various disciplines, to address these issues according to biological, sociological and economic approaches. If the unique and universal response to the problems posed by invasive species in natural areas is not provided here, the undeniable advances in understanding the mechanisms underlying these invasions will help to inform the decisions that will have to be made by environmental managers. Scientists, teachers and students will also find results and reflections that will enrich their knowledge.
